Update December 2022
COVID-19 Guidance at Reynolds Opticians in 2022
While the pandemic may feel like a thing of the past, many of us implemented new processes and procedures that have stuck with us despite the risk of COVID-19 being lower. When you visit one of our stores, you will not be required to wear a mask, but if you would prefer to wear one we would more than welcome it. With regards to sanatising your hands, while it is not mandatory, we would encourage you to do so when picking up and trying on our frames. This keeps all those who want to try them on safe.
You may notice some protective screens are still in place, this is for the safety of members of staff who are in regular face-to-face contact with our patients.
What to do if you’re feeling unwell before your appointment
We would encourage anyone who feels unwell before their appointment to stay at home and contact us at the earliest opportunity. This way we can rearrange your appointment for a time in the future where you are feeling better and there is less risk to our team.
Update 19th July 2021
Is it safe to go to the opticians?
Following guidance from NHS England and for the safety of our staff and patients, we continue to require patients visiting us to wear masks and sanitise hands on arrival. We also continue to operate by appointment only to maintain good social distancing.
Our staff continue to wear appropriate medical PPE, maintain strict cleaning procedures, sanitise frames after wear and maintain good ventilation throughout the practice.
In short, as a medical setting the relaxation of certain rules on 19th July will have little effect on how we are currently operating.
Thank you for your support now and over the last 18 months.

From tomorrow, we will be open daily BY APPOINTMENT only. Our phone lines will be well-manned for enquiries, bookings and orders. Please do not visit without an appointment, so that we can manage social distancing. Delivery or doorstop collection will be arranged for products such as contact lenses, drops and spectacles.

We will be contacting all patients as they are due appointments and conducting screening and consultations with an Optometrist over the phone where possible – particularly routine contact lens checkups.
Our telephones will be manned daily and an Optometrist will be available every day.
Please get in contact with any queries and very importantly, get in contact if you are experiencing problems with your eyes. Problems should not be ignored.
These measures are to ensure that we all stay healthy and maintain social distancing.
Further updates will be announced as necessary, in line with advice from NHS and Public Health England.
Stay safe and stay well.

COVID-19 – Is it safe to go to the opticians?
We are strictly adhering to Public Health England and government advice on preventing the spread of Coronavirus. This is in addition to our regular, daily practice cleaning and sterilising, along with disinfecting equipment and hand washing between all patients.
We will be asking if you have any symptoms of a new, persistent cough, fever or cold before booking an appointment. As per government advice, you will not be permitted to visit with these symptoms but will be offered to rebook once you are symptom-free.
Waiting areas are arranged to keep you more than a metre apart from others.
All communal newspapers and magazines in patient welcome areas have been removed.
All frames are individually cleaned before they are tried on, as are card payment machines and pens used for patients signing paperwork.
All patients will be asked to use hand sanitiser on entering the building.
All staff are washing hands and/or using hand gel between patients.
These measures are updated regularly, in line with government advice.
