The ZEISS Cirrus OCT is a cutting-edge imaging device that provides detailed, high-resolution cross-sectional images of the retina and optic nerve. It is invaluable for monitoring changes over time, helping us create personalized care plans for patients and track the progression of eye conditions.
ZEISS Clarus ultra-widefield imaging captures high-definition, wide-angle images of the retina. This technology provides a 200-degree view of the retina, offering a more comprehensive assessment than traditional imaging methods. It allows us to detect retinal conditions early, including diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, and peripheral retinal disease, which can often go unnoticed until they are more advanced.
The Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer is an essential tool for evaluating the visual field—the area you can see while focusing on a central point. This test is crucial for detecting conditions like glaucoma, optic nerve damage, and other neurological issues that affect vision. By using the Humphrey Visual Field machine, we can monitor subtle changes in your vision, ensuring any potential issues are caught early.
Our ZEISS Forum software allows us to seamlessly integrate and analyse data from our diagnostic equipment. The ZEISS Digital Slit-Lamp Biomicroscope is a key tool for examining the anterior segment of the eye, including the cornea, lens, iris, and the front of the retina. This advanced slit-lamp allows us to capture high-resolution images and videos, aiding in the diagnosis of conditions such as cataracts, corneal diseases, and anterior segment abnormalities. The digital imaging capability helps us track any changes over time, ensuring timely intervention when necessary.
Corneal topography provides detailed mapping of the cornea’s surface, helping to assess its shape and curvature. This diagnostic tool is invaluable for detecting corneal diseases, astigmatism, and for pre-surgical planning for procedures like LASIK. Corneal topography helps us understand the health of the cornea and plan for the best treatment options tailored to the individual.
Icare tonometry offers a significant improvement in patient comfort compared to traditional non-contact tonometry (NCT).
Unlike NCT, which uses a sudden puff of air that many patients find startling and unpleasant, Icare tonometry uses a very light, momentary contact with the cornea via a small disposable probe.
This method does not require anaesthetic drops and is typically described by patients as quick, barely noticeable, and far less anxiety-inducing. As a result, patients are generally more relaxed during the procedure, improving the overall clinical experience and making it particularly suitable for nervous individuals, children, and those who struggle with the anticipation of the air puff.

Our eye examinations usually last about 40 minutes but we will advise you if you require any extra specific tests and how long these may take.
We have a general routine we perform for every patient but as we like to treat every patient as an individual the optician will tailor the examination similarly, which guarantees you a thorough examination executed smoothly, keeping you as relaxed as possible.
As well as including all tests to check for your sight and to see if any vision correction is required (e.g. spectacles, contact lenses) we also check for any potential eye disease like Glaucoma, Cataract, Macular degeneration to name a few.
Our equipment includes a digital retinal camera and optical coherence topographer which allows us to take photographs and scans of the inside of your eyes so even small abnormalities can be detected, recorded and compared in future checks. Combining this with modern examination techniques we can ensure all is done to help prevent unnecessary deterioration to your sight and eye health. Other tests we will carry out include binocular assessment (how well the eyes work together), peripheral visual field analysis and intraocular pressure measurement.
Your Optometrist will always explain the results of the various assessments and you will be given every opportunity to ask any questions you may have. The recommendations given at the end of the eye examination by your Optometrist will take into account factors such as your working environment, lifestyle and any leisure pursuits you have, so we can meet your visual needs in the best possible way.

We have recently upgraded our 3D OCT eye scanner, a piece of diagnostic equipment that can detect a number of key eye conditions, such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy during a routine eye test.
Our Optometrists recommend an OCT scan for all patients as a baseline. We also advise that patients with a direct or family history of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, vitreous floaters, and moderate short-sight also have a regular scan at each eye examination.

The Zeiss Ultra wide Field produces an image that is unique and provides us with a high-resolution 200° image to check the health of your retina. This is much wider than a traditional 45° image. Many eye problems can develop without you knowing – in fact, you may not even notice any change in your sight. Fortunately, diseases or damage such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, and other health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure, can be seen with a thorough exam of the retina.
The inclusion of Zeiss Ultra wide Field as part of a comprehensive eye exam provides:
